Week 5 - Feb 1-5

Monday - Our first day with the laptops.  We will learn how to use Excel to solve linear programming problems. We will first enter the paper spread sheets into Excel. then we will go over keeper #6 and learn to use Solver.  Students will submit via email their completed(solved) problems.

Tuesday - Students will use the text book for the first time to complete a 3 variable problem called Sk8man. We will first watch a short video on how to build your own skateboard and discuss some constraints we may have.  Building a skateboard video
then students will complete a set of questions and complete the excel and run an answer report.
we will go over keeper #7 that tells us how to run and read an answer report.

Wednesday -

Thursday - we will review for the unit assessment

Friday - we will take the unit assessment

Week 4 - Jan 25-29

Monday - Unit 1 Assessment

MISSING ASSIGNMENTS???
you can go to the tab at the top of the page and print off extra copies and turn in as soon as possible.

Tuesday - begin Unit 2 - Compare minimization to maximization. begin notes on Excel.

Wednesday - Laptop work - Begin entering problems in Excel and running solver

Thursday - Continue working with Excel

Friday - Sk8man problem on laptops with Excel.

week 3 - Jan 18 - Jan 22

Monday - Holiday

Tuesday - we will take our course pretest. after the pretest, students will continue practicing linear programming problems.

Wednesday - students will use Legos to help them visualize constraints (restrictions) and they will complete a linear programming problem. Lego worksheet

Thursday - We will review for our first unit assessment (download review by clicking here)

Friday - Unit 1 Assessment

Week 2 - Jan 11-15

Monday - We started the main part of this course. We began formulation of Linear Programming problems.  We took notes on Keeper # 3 and practiced formulating 3 problems.

Tuesday - We took the formulations from Monday and went through the complete solving process. we took notes on Kepper #4.

Both Keeper Keys can be found at the top of the blog under Unit 1.

Wednesday - We will practice with Partners working 2 complete linear programming problems. We will go from start to finish, all 8 steps.

Thursday - We will continue practicing with 2 new problems. again working all 8 steps to get a solution.

Friday - students will work in teams of 5-6. Student groups will all start off with one problem and read the problem and complete step 1 of the Linear programming process.
the groups will then rotate to a new problem and check the work of the previous group(s) and then complete the next step. we will continue this process until all problems are solved. groups will then  return to their original problem and make sure all work is correct and complete.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Welcome back - 2nd Semester - week of Jan 5, 2016

Welcome back!

Tuesday was a great get to know you day. I hope you all had an exciting 1st day back and are ready to get this semester started.  You are only a few short months away from GRADUATION!!!!

Remember you need some sort of notebook. Either a composition book, spiral notebook, or a 3 ring binder.
You also need a calculator. One that is not a cell phone by its first nature.

Wednesday we begin notes on graphing. We will begin identifying equations in standard form and then learn how to graph them by finding the x and y intercepts. We will then translate that to inequalities and add shading.

Thursday we will learn to solve systems of inequalities by graphing and identifying overlapping shaded regions.

Friday we will begin to look at linear programming problems and begin to formulate (set up) linear programming problems.
