Week November 30

Hope you enjoyed your break and are ready to finish up this semester.
Monday, Nov 30 - Students will receive keeper 15. Notes are completed. you need to complete the practice problems. Check against the key that the sub will have. Then complete the practice classwork on the randbetween excel formula.

Tuesday, Dec 1 - students will work on two simulations.

Wednesday, Dec 2 - Review of all the items in this unit.

Thursday, Dec 3 - Keeper 16 - Notes on the last unit

Friday, Dec 4 practice on geometric and binomial distributions.

Week of Nov 2

Monday and Tuesday we are presenting our CPM projects from last week.
the actual due date was Monday.

Wednesday - we begin working on a new unit discussing standard deviation and normal distribution

Thursday  - we will continue working with normal distributions and discuss z scores

Friday - we will review for the SLO. students will create a flipbook study guide to help them prepare for the SLO and the final exam.

Week of October 26

Monday - we took notes on Gantt charts

Tuesday - we practiced the entire process from a dependency chart to the Gantt chart

Thursday - students continue working on their projects

Friday - notebooks are due and students begin presentations.

October 5-9

Monday - We reviewed for the test on Binary Programming

Tuesday - We took the test on Binary Programming

Wednesday - We started the new unit on finding Optimal Locations.  we took notes on the new vocab and the steps on finding  the Optimal location in 1 dimension.

Thursday - We searched google maps for cities and created our own location problem.

Friday - We took notes on 2 dimensional Optimal Locations.

September 28 - October 2

Monday we learned about Binary programming. we took notes on keeper #9

Tuesday we learned the new Excel short cuts and began working on Coach Washington's basketball problem.

Wednesday we finished Coach Washington's Problem and started working on flipping houses and sam johnson.

Thursday and Friday: lab days students will have opportunity to finish all three Binary problems as well as finish Integer problems, natty's jewelry and pizza palace.

Week Sept 14

Monday - 1st and 2nd worked on getting caught up from shortened classes last week. we finished notes and the Kernel activity. 4th had 4 practice problems to complete.

Tuesday - we worked on Pizza Palace Problem from the text book.  We took notes on  the changes in Excel for integer programming

Wednesday - we will work on Natty's jewelry problem.

Thursday - we will review and have a catch up on Excel day.

Friday  - we test on Integer Programming.

Week of Aug 31

Monday - Keeper #6 how to run solver in excel to solve problems.
                Students will type their warm up into excel, then install solver and run it.

Tuesday - Students will enter their warm up into excel and install and run solver
                 Students will then take the two problems form last Thursday and choose one to enter and
                 run solver to check their answers.
                 Students will then email the completed spreadsheet to hgmcguire@gmail.com.

Week 3 - August 17 - August 21

Monday - warm up - Formulation
                 Work session - Students work in pairs on two Linear programming problems from start to finish. LP Practice 2
                Closing - groups will present their solutions to the class problems and explain their process.

Tuesday - Warm up - Formulation
                  Work Session - Students will be divided into groups. As a group, students will go through all steps of a linear programming problem but rotating through 6 different problems.
     Step 1: Define the decision variables : teams will have 3 minutes to define the variables
Students rotate to the next problem. They will double check the group before them and then do
     Step 2: Objective Function: teams will have 5 minutes to create the objective function
Students rotate to the next problem. they will double check the group before them and then  do
     Step 3: Create constraints
Students rotate to the next problem. Double check the groups before and then do
     Step 4: Graph
Students rotate to the next problem. Double check the groups before and then do
     Step 5: Corner points and calculations
Students rotate to the next problem. Double check the groups before and then do
     Step 6: Identify the solution and write the sentence
Students return to their original problem and double check all the work and confirm that it is correct.

                  Closing: Students reflect in their notebooks about the process and what they are still struggling with.

Wednesday - Lego Play Day
                 Warm up - take the warm up from Tuesday and solve the problem.
                 Work session - Students will work on the Lego table and  chair problem in teams of 4 or 5
                                        - Students will work on the shoe Linear program problem

As we finish the first week of school, I hope you have settled into your schedule and  your new routine.
