Week 3 - August 17 - August 21
Monday - warm up - Formulation
Work session - Students work in pairs on two Linear programming problems from start to finish. LP Practice 2
Closing - groups will present their solutions to the class problems and explain their process.
Tuesday - Warm up - Formulation
Work Session - Students will be divided into groups. As a group, students will go through all steps of a linear programming problem but rotating through 6 different problems.
Step 1: Define the decision variables : teams will have 3 minutes to define the variables
Students rotate to the next problem. They will double check the group before them and then do
Step 2: Objective Function: teams will have 5 minutes to create the objective function
Students rotate to the next problem. they will double check the group before them and then do
Step 3: Create constraints
Students rotate to the next problem. Double check the groups before and then do
Step 4: Graph
Students rotate to the next problem. Double check the groups before and then do
Step 5: Corner points and calculations
Students rotate to the next problem. Double check the groups before and then do
Step 6: Identify the solution and write the sentence
Students return to their original problem and double check all the work and confirm that it is correct.
Closing: Students reflect in their notebooks about the process and what they are still struggling with.
Wednesday - Lego Play Day
Warm up - take the warm up from Tuesday and solve the problem.
Work session - Students will work on the Lego table and chair problem in teams of 4 or 5
- Students will work on the shoe Linear program problem
Today's practice problems came from http://mathinscience.info/public/0%20No%20Match/Teach%20Folder%20No%20Matches/linear_program/linear.htm
Closing - 3-2-1
Thursday - Students will practice graphing systems and complete 2 linear programming problems and turn in before they leave
Friday - SLO Pretest and review for the unit test on Monday, August 24
